Think Pink Sunday

“The rose is a flower of love. The world has acclaimed it for centuries. Pink roses are for love hopeful and expectant. White roses are for love dead or forsaken, but the red roses, ah the red roses are for love triumphant.” ~ Love Quotes

It comes to a girl sometimes, feeling tickled pink. Here are some pink stuff and quotes I think are interesting.

Pink is the color of happiness.

pink1

“Almost all words do have color and nothing is more pleasant than to utter a pink word and see someone's eyes light up and know it is a pink word for him or her too” ~ Gladys Tabe

pink2

“Pink is the color of romance and a friend tells me that the girl with the pink dress at the party is the one who is selected for each dance” ~ Alfred Carl Hottes

pink3

“The very pink of perfection.” ~ Oliver Goldsmith

pink4

“Slow buds the pink dawn like a rose From out night's gray and cloudy sheath; Softly and still it grows and grows, Petal by petal, leaf by leaf.” ~ Susan Coolidge

pink5

“Wish on everything. Pink cars are good, especially old ones. And stars of course, first stars and shooting stars. Planes will do if they are the first light in the sky and look like stars. Wish in tunnels, holding your breath and lifting your feet off the ground. Birthday candles. Baby teeth.” ~ Francesca Lia

“I fell off my pink cloud with a thud.” ~ Elizabeth Taylor

“Picasso had his pink period and his blue period. I am in my blonde period right now.” ~ Hugh Hefner A little best friend for a lady, Pink Butterfly Tampon Case.

Ugly Shoes alternatives for Halloween costumes

If you are planning to go edgy on your footwear this Halloween, there are some designers shoes that you might want to check. These footwear happened to be the most creative creations ever done in the name of shoes, in fact, almost beyond the imagination of stereotype, unoriginal  people who only go for style that are socially acceptable. These shoes exceeded the definition of "beautiful" that they are dubbed "ugly shoes".

With the help of any of these shoes, the creative side of you might just come up with a stylish, extra-ordinary Halloween costume.

ugly3
Rick Owens hidden sandals

Why is this ugly? Because I think that it's made for some middle aged, stylish Dracula.

ugly4
Alexander McQueen "armadillo" heels

I really respect Alexander and I was devastated with the news of his death last year. He was such a loss. But while I adored his vision for style, I just can't handle these armadillo. They're too beautiful for me that they'd make me ugly. I'm speaking about pairing them with any of my dresses, but if you've some special outfit for this season, why not?

ugly2
Vibram FiveFingers Sprint

I can't bear with the thought of walking around mingling with humanity while my tendons are exposed. Not when I walk around in a dress, but maybe, when I'm farming?

ugly1
Opening Ceremony faux fur platform boot

This shoe would make a good trivia question. Are those hair of human or of sheep? If it's human hair then I'll applaud the designer for his reusing and recycling technique. But if those of sheep, then I'd like to be rest assured that their souls are at peace.
ugly5
Nina Ricci heel-less heels

When I first saw this shoe I felt more scared than impressed. It's a kind that I'd see in scary movies. I wonder what's with the concave-like platform? The suspended heels are exceptional BUT seeing such beauty being useless just causes me contradictions on myself. Can it be that the floating platform is cool? Or is it just flat ugly?

You might want to see more ugly shoes for Halloween. Visit the slide of ugliest shoes at Shine.

5 Important Features to Look For in a Rug to Make Your Room Look Fabulous

Hunting for the best runner rugs that will complement your room won’t be so hard once you look for the following features: color, texture, size and shape, material used and design.

Rugs are excellent room/floor decorators. But, searching for the right rugs seems like a chore for there are so many kinds to choose from. This shouldn’t be done in a hurry if you really want the best ornament for your home. The features below will serve as a guide to help you find the perfect rug you've been looking for.

room2

Color

The first feature to look for is the color of the rug. It shouldn’t clash with the hue of the walls itself. The flooring should also be taken into consideration. Bear in mind that the color of the furniture should also be counted. Colors can play tricks in one’s mind such as choosing bland and pastel colored rugs to give off a spacious vibe. Darker and deeper colors endow are room with a cozy feeling, a warm atmosphere and a sense of relaxation. On the other hand, if you prefer rugs decorated with bold patterns with intricate designs, this would best fit with simple and monochromatic furniture. To avoid putting your guest into confusion, take the stated guides into thought.

room1

Texture

Another way to affix a certain kind of feeling is through the texture of a rug. If you prefer a soft and cozy feeling, a fluffy-looking rug in pastel colors would fit this specification. Then again, some prefers a sophisticated look. This can be attained through choosing a rug with elaborate patterns. If you fancy a mod style of room, a rug of monochromatic hue will suit best.

room3

Size and Shape

The size of a rug should depend on the area you want to cover. You don’t want to make you room look packed. A room should always have a welcoming vibe, not a suffocating one. Modern area rugs come in different sizes and shapes. There are ones for a long hallway, for round tables, to name a few. Don’t lose hope because there is always one out there that would be perfect.

room4

Material used

Before purchasing a rug, check on the material used with a keen eye. Hand-woven rugs are of the best quality since each strand is tightly interlaced. Also, examine the back portion of the rug. If the pattern at the back is seen, then that rug deserves a thumbs-up. Reversely, if the back portion is covered with a cloth-like layer, expect that it wouldn’t last long because after some time, it will leave a cotton-like residue on the floor. Good looks plus quality equals perfect choice.

room5

Design

There are loads of runner rugs to choose from. The advantage of modern area rugs is that each one is not exactly identical to the other. A distinct way to reveal your true personality is how you decorate your home. Styles like Persian rugs and Oriental rugs pose a great deal of choice. The appealing plus to rugs is that you may settle in two or more so long as it will match the natural ambiance in your room.

Gaze at your room for a few seconds and think about what areas you would like to focus on. What’s unique to rugs is that each perspective gives a cool vibe.

6 winter coats you must try on

I tracked my traffic record and found several searches about winter layering. It dawned on me that I've quite a number of posts on summer essentials but not much about winter fashion. Did a little research and found out that most people are actually looking for "coat" inspirations. Coats for winter, sounds logical.

Here are the 6 fabulous coats that I'd recommend for winter.

"The fox-fur coat paired with washed-tweed cigarette pants is a modern mix of utility and rock." ~ Marie Claire

fall-08-fashion-trends-9-lg

"Inspired by traditional Italian menswear, the newly proportioned suits in warm coat, sensual fabrics impart a feeling of protection and aristocratic elegance." ~ Marie Claire

fall-08-fashion-trends-12-lg

"A coat that's Poetic, opulent, and upbeat, with a disheveled British elegance, as always, at the core." ~ Marie Claire

Dress like you're in early twenties with touch of maturity. Manage your coat. WeFashion!

We

Sport that elegant punk look. Such irony! Whatever. Wefashion!

wintera

Oh! And don't forget to play with colors too. Winter coats are not meant to be dull and boring. See that scarf! Hell, looks.

One of my readers has pointed it right, I tend to blog about items ridiculously priced. And she buys it. That's what we're supposed to do. If we can't afford them, let's dream about them. And let them inspire our creativity.

4 Ways to Exercise for the Body You Always Wanted

Everyone wants to have healthy muscles, whether model-type, athlete type, or even body-builder type. There are many exercises, as well as equipment you can use to help you achieve this goal. Here are some of the equipment you can use to get that muscles you have always wanted:

girlexercise

Exercise using free weights
There are lots of exercises using free weights that significantly help you gain muscles. Strength training, which is the type of exercise that lets you build up muscles, includes programs using free weights. Although weights are not the only option for you, using such equipment are very effective in bringing stress to your body that lets you gain muscles. What distinguishes free weights from other strength training equipment is that it is not attached to a machine. It is practically portable wherever you want to do your exercise, except of course for the bigger and heavier weights. Examples of free weights include dumbbells, barbells, stacks, and bench presses.

When using free weights, you must know how much weight you can bear without injuring yourself. Do not start with heavy weights. Go with lighter weights first and apply increments after a few days or weeks of training. Do not do weight lifting, or resistance and strength training in general, everyday. Give your body time to recover since your muscles grow most when it is resting from stress. That means, muscles are built up when recovering from resistance training exercises. Fitness experts usually advise you to do resistance training thrice a week to give your body time to rest and do cardio exercises on your other vacant days to help burn fats faster and make your muscles more visible.

Train with fitness machines
Fitness machines are usually readily available in your gym. If you have the determination and the time, as well as the budget and space at home, you can always get one for your home program. The problem, however, is that most of these machines are expensive and can be bulky and difficult to install. Nowadays, more training machines are developed to be foldable and portable, yet they still function similarly as your gym machines. More inexpensive, yet quality versions of these equipment, such as the alternatives of Total Gym 3000 are also being introduced in the market to accommodate those with lesser budget.

These training machines usually involve pulleys, T-bars, and more. Unlike free weights that make use of gravity, these machines build up your muscles by allowing your body to resist a certain force. These types of equipment are advisable if you are a beginner since they can better prevent accidents and injuries as in the usual case of barbells. You can also adjust the mode of resistance you want to apply to your body, as well as the range of motion.

Make do with other resistance training equipment
Resistance training is an exercise program that enables you to increase your strength as well as reduce your fats by building up your muscles. Aside from free weights and fitness machines, you can make use of other resistance training equipment to gain muscles. These equipment are usually specific for the different parts of your body you want to build muscles on. Examples include exercise balls and elastic bands.

Do not forget to use your own body
The cheapest and most practical way to gain muscles is to do resistance training using your own body. If you do not have a machine at home, this is the best alternative for you. Although best suggested to supplement your regular workout program, using body weight can greatly help in building your muscles, especially if you work hard on it. There are, however, some people who find it hard to use this type of exercise as their body weight could be too much for them to bear. If you are overweight or you are just starting out, it is better that you try lighter free weights and fitness machines first. Body weight exercises that let you build up muscles in certain parts of your body include push-ups and body crunches.

The use of these different equipment actually depends on the look you are aiming for and the body part you want to focus. What is also important is that you have enough rest and sleep, as well as proper diet. Lastly, you need to be focused and determined to achieve your goal. After all, nobody brings out the best in your body than yourself.

Should you play bingo for fashion?

Yes, the Sex and the City is dead. But no, it wasn’t the press who killed it. The somewhat akin to Elvis Presley, this almost legendary franchise series is actually killed not by no brainer fashionistas but by stay-on-their-guts stylish recessionistas who saw the thickening of the wardrobes of these New York besties entirely unaffordable. But did you know? That many of these same recessionistas who killed the SATC are actually turning to online bingo as a way to support their fashion needs? How true?

bingo
According to reports, it’s the women who already got a hold of their fashion sense that get involved in bingo fashion – those middle aged or older women. They play for fun, sure, but they also take chance to earn more for quick, easy funds and thereby shop for their fashion essentials. All these are thanks to an easy access to the internet. They shop online. At the same time, they play bingo online.

Aside from fashion reasons, a lot of people participate in betting or gambling because of more serious objectives: to win and become instant rich. However, while there are stories of overwhelming wins, the odds of winning are actually very and extremely less. But why is it, that despite this known fact the number of people who play bingo and other forms of betting is still enormous? Clearly, we cannot rule out the fact that human loves to take chance in whatever ways possible for either money or fashion.

On a lighter note, it is sweet to know that some celebrities play bingo for a more valuable cause – for charity. If they are not at work or if they are not shopping, they fashionably play bingo anyway, so why not use the proceeds to support the foundations that protect and respect animal rights? British pop star Robbie Williams, for example, is one of a host of celebrities involved with Legendary Bingo, a weekly fundraising event held in Los Angeles to help the Voice for the Animals Foundation. Would such an act justify the nature of gambling? Process that question on you, girls, but take note, celebrities must have lots of money to bet.

While it is fashionable and fun to play online bingo, still, I have not and I don’t plan to try it out. There were two instances when I saw figures clearly in my dreams and woke up sweating. I thought of stories I heard in the past that the numbers that win the betting are usually those seen in dreams. But I was not even moved to go out and play the game. I prefer to save my money.

What are your thoughts on fashion and bingo, girls? Have you ever tried playing online bingo?

Fashion Don't! My fashion faux pas ...

I used to have regular posts on Fashion Don't Celebrity Outfits. I search for outfits that make eyebrows rise and then ask you if it's a fashion faux pas or not. Answers may vary but majority usually demand to add them to our Fashion Don't list! And yet, when I saw the post of Erika, the photo of her as a girl before she was a fashionista, it made me realize, I have my own share of fashion faux pas. In fact, tons of them. So why not share even one?

before1

I can't help myself but laugh when I saw this photo after like 6 years. It really is funny to see my style before the fashionista days.I wore only Jag for jeans and I thought I was cool. My bag can only be JanSport backpack or sling. I made a promise to myself that even though I'll grow older, I would never carry handbags and shoulder bags that are so girly-like. I'd carry only JanSport.

I checked my closet tonight and saw no JanSport bag. I believe I didn't have JanSport for years now.

Boy, see those shoes?!

If you too have your own story of fashion faux pas, submit them at BYWH - Before You Were Hot!

Elle Fashion Week 2010 in Bangkok: Fashion Bloggers Meet Up

I think that it's a good idea for fashion bloggers who live in the same area to meet up. It's an opportunity for like minded people to learn from each other, inspire one another, or simply just hang out, have fun and discuss anything and fashion. And what better time and place to meet virtual friends who share your passion than in a fashion week event?

DSC_1117

It seemed at first that I'm the only fashion blogger who blogs in English in this very sophisticated city of Bangkok. I was looking for other bloggers in this place to connect; but mostly, they blog in Thai medium. But it wasn't so long ago when I met Sweet of Pensandlens in this blogosphere. She's one of my people who happened to be living and working in Bangkok too. Finally we met up. And guess what? We met at Elle Fashion Week 2010 at Central World, Bangkok.

DSC_1112

We shared ideas on how to improve a blog's trafffic, how to use some SEO techniques in writing contents and how to make our blogs user friendly.

DSC_1113

We shared, too, our encounters with fashion blogger haters, the demeaning comments we received and how we handled them.

DSC_1115

And of course, just like any fashion blogger, we clearly love posing for cameras. I first thought, it isn't obvious.

DSC_1135

It's funny how you seem to know a person too well even without meeting. And I realized, that what you feel towards a person behind the monitor usually is true when you meet up. It didn't feel like it was the first time we met.

DSC_1100

It wasn't part of the plan, but we ended up shopping too. This last photo was taken in the dressing room of Forever21.

Creative Fashion opens heart ... How I got hooked in fashion blogging

One day I stumbled upon blogger and the thought of putting up a fashion blog came up. I never knew about blogging before. All I had were profiles at Helium, Associated Content and Ezine where I published my articles, short stories and poetry. Blogger made things easy for a complete newbie. The name Creative Fashion quickly came into picture. I never had moments when I had to think and rethink about the name for my blog; it simply was given. I created an account, searched for some free layouts and published my first fashion blog ever. How fast time flies? It's already one year and a half ago, and here I am, still blogging.

birds

I was completely at loss when I was starting. Oftentimes I didn't know what to do. I visited other fashion blogs and when I saw their huge following and community of people commenting, I felt like engulfed by this overwhelming sea of fashion bloggers. I felt so tiny. I felt so insecure. "What am I doing here? Who am I to blog about fashion?" were the usual thoughts that haunted me.

Then I met a virtual friend who was blogging almost full-time by the time, but hers were personal blogs. When I met her, I already had abandoned Creative Fashion. I had stopped blogging for some time. She encouraged me to put up a personal blog where I can collectively publish my creative writings. I was convinced that a literary or personal blog would be more productive for me. Therefore I set up my personal blog A peek into my life and my thoughts ... and spent all my free time developing my blog and connecting with other non-fashion bloggers. I found that the other side of blogosphere was much more welcoming. I connected easily with a lot of bloggers and in a short time, my personal blog earned a pr 3.

After several months of religiously tending my personal blog, it reached a plateau. I was spending so much hours for it but it wasn't earning any revenue. It was then that I reconsidered my fashion blog. Immediately, Creative Fashion was revived. I challenged myself to learn every facets of fashion blogging. I made it a goal to increase my pagerank into 4. Then I read an article that says, you cannot succeed in blogging by being an island. You gotta go out and join the sea. Thus I started visiting and commenting on other blogs. I was slowly and painfully earning friends. But it was fulfilling. The hardest part that I faced was getting other bloggers exchange links with my blog. I felt that some bloggers who has got higher page ranks were snob when it comes to exchanging links. I felt upset at first but eventually learned to let it pass. Later, I realized that there are also plenty of wonderful bloggers out there that are willing to be friends and exchange links.  I wasn't posting a lot of My Outfit posts and my contents were not very striking. I then focused on improving my contents. I set goals after goals and before I knew it, I was hooked. I documented my learning as a list of tips on How to increase pagerank in the shortest possible time .

For how many times I was tempted to quit. But I'm thankful for the goals that I challenged myself to reach, they made me keep working on. This blog is bringing in some bucks but not that much to compensate the number of hours that I spend maintaining it. However, my blogs served as training grounds. I learned so many things about web publishing. I became exposed to so many opportunities. And because of this experience, new projects came to me that are just waiting for the perfect time to get launched. I'm extremely excited for 2011.

As I reflect upon these things tonight, I thought that perhaps it's about time to turn the limelight from myself unto my readers. This is the first time that I am doing this and I can't help but scold myself for waiting too long.

I ask you, my dear girls, to give me some feedback about my blog. Please take some moments to answer any of the questions below. I really would appreciate your thoughts. [You can stay anonymous if that feels more comfortable]

What are the things that you like about Creative Fashion?

What are the things that you feel are missing in this blog?

What are the topics that you suggest must be covered in this blog?

Is there any question that you wish to ask? [Either blogging ideas, fashion or personal but not too personal, I would be happy to answer them]

Have a wonderful day. Hugs. :)

Latest dresses from Elie Saab Ready-to-Wear Spring 2011 Collection

I found myself engulfed tonight by dresses that define both elegance and femininity in an almost dream-like manner. There is something in the way Ellie Saab designs his dresses. He is able to visualize how his dress would create luxury and power in a woman yet mixes it with softness and comfort. I'm quite surprised, I would be so willingly wear everything from his Ready-to-Wear Spring 2011 Collection. This isn't my case for all designers. How many designers outfits are looking good on the runway but would never make me confident and comfortable to wear.

ellie2

Ellie Saab is a Lebanese fashion designer who's self-made and self-trained. He started designing dresses and outfits at age 9 for his sisters using his mother's table cloths and curtains. At age 18, he put up his first atelier at Lebanese and all his evening gowns and wedding dresses were well-received. He must be a genius beyond his age.

ellie3

ellie4

ellie7

ellie8

He worked his way up to attain fame and expand his empire. But what made him a star was actually that dress that Halle Berry wore at the Oscars in 2002 when she received her first Oscar award. Since then, several A-list celebrities embraced his designs.

ellie saab

Rarely do I spend hours looking and studying designers' dresses because I bar myself from spending too much money for too expensive designs that are beyond my means. I have projects in mind that would make my future, therefore, I need to save my money. Meantime, just let me dream for all these alluring dresses.

How to fashionably wear shorts

Shorts, and I mean short shorts, are arguably my most signature style. Whenever you get a glimpse of me on any other day, whether I'm strolling off the streets of Bangkok, shopping, or spending a wonderful afternoon at the park, and unless I'm at work, you most certainly see me wearing shorts. Perhaps I can point at the weather in this corner of the world - which is always ridiculously hot - as the reason of my love for shorts; or probably, it could simply be due to my unconscious desire to bare more skin, I'm not really sure.

A few months ago, I playfully ask the question of how short do you wear shorts? I heard quite a number of amused reactions from the readers when they saw how some celebrities wear shorts. But today, to answer a serious question from a reader, how do you fashionably wear shorts? I came up with this post.

shorts9

Faded denim shorts, plain white top and flip flops or flat sandals completed with a fabulous jacket. Let the jacket speak for the outfit. Loud accessories obviously furnishes the look.

shorts2

Layer your shorts with your favorite tights. This is best when it's winter or when you feel it isn't that cool to bear that much skin. ;)

shorts3

I love this look a lot, very vintage. It's high waist short shorts with huge pockets that are clearly outlined. How the red stripes made contrast with the shorts' color is very intriguing.

shorts1

Wear shorts as a teaser by pairing it with a blousy off shoulder top. I'd prefer wearing gladiator sandals for this look.

shorts8

This is the look that my fiance hate to see me wear. The reason? He says that my rear isn't visible in this kind of shirt. And since I'm skinny, he thinks that the curves aren't displayed at all. If the shirt doesn't hike up at the back, it seems that I'm only wearing a long shirt and an underwear. Oh really? I don't really care. As long as I feel comfortable, a pair of well-shaped legs displayed suffice for the look. But oh, have you thought of using a really fierce hand bag for this outfit?

shorts7

Tattered denim shorts really impress me. Why not pair them with a loose knitted top or a transparent blouse layered by a fitting undergarment? And well, look at those shoes.;)

shorts6

Rider denim shorts can be really challenging cuz if not done right, you can look slutty. But if you're brave enough, wear underneath a pair panties leggings that extend down your legs to stylishly cover some length.

shorts5

I'm not really sure if after getting up in the morning and just grabbing a leather jacket to cover your top is a good idea. After all,  isn't this nighties shorts look fabulous in the catwalk.
