Casual Indian Mini Dress for A Humid Summer Afternoon

summer dress

After three weeks of really bad weather - rainy, cold and gloomy, this week is a complete opposite. The temperature hits up to 33 degree Celsius, hot and humid.

I and hubby strolled the city yesterday afternoon and shared a cup of ice cream. On our summer afternoon date, this is what I wore. A mini Indian dress which was a gift from my former co-teacher, an Indian, a pair of turquoise ballet flats, and a brown hand bag.

I´ve also worn this same dress with knee high boots last Fall. See the look here - My Outfit: Indian Summer Dress with Brown Riding Boots.

Currently Coveting: Printed Round Neck Shoulder Yoke Dress

Hello girls! Today morning I received a package with a dress for review. It´s a halter dress with the upper part looking very similar to this A. Byer Juniors Printed Round Neck Shoulder Yoke Dress, $54, that I´ve been coveting for a week now.

There are three differences though, first, while the tops are similar my dress for review is halter. Also, unlike this Yoke Dress which skirt is fitted with two side pockets, my dress´skirt is bias and without pockets. Thirdly, my dress is monochromatic instead of printed (I will be publishing the review here so stay tuned).

I love the black and white print of this Yoke dress and the fact that it comes with pockets. I can easily tuck my hands in them. One review of this dress says that while many dresses with pockets don´t fit well, this one is an exemption, it fits nicely as a whole.

I find its belt too patent though so I most probably swap it with my black stretchable belt. I really think that metallic shoes would look perfect with it. Stiletto heels with sexy straps just like what the model is wearing.

I´m prepping for my trip to Paris next month and dresses are in the list.

So what do you think of this round neck Yoke dress. Would you wear it?

I Wore Sheer Yellow Top with White Jeans for a Day at Frankfurt

As I and my husband drove home from the city yesterday afternoon, we noticed the preparation for an up-coming carnival festival. Hubby actually saw it first and motioned me to look at it. I was like, "Oh, it´s festival again!." And then it hit me, "just like last year, when i first came to Germany."

I came to Germany 29th July of last year and it was during the time when the city was having a carnival. I can´t believe how time flew so fast. I´ve survived my first one year here.

I went through my old photos in the evening feeling emotional (I just lost my dear grandpa) and I ran on these photos. They´re taken in Frankfurt last year, quickly after I arrived. You´ll me wearing a gold sheer top, white jeans and brown riding boots. This made me smile.

Wishing you a fabulous weekend, darlings. Don´t forget to call your special someone, love ones and family, no matter how far away they are, and tell them how much they meant to you. You´ll never know what lies ahead and it hurts to regret.

Casual Sweater Layering for Fall

casual sweater layering

Yesterday was hubby´s birthday and we celebrated it by dining at a Chinese restaurant. For a casual dinner dine out, I wore a casual layering of red pullover, pink knitted sweater, black denim shorts, tights, and riding boots. It´s already two weeks now since I had my hair cut too short than I wished and yet I can still not get to like it. I´ve prove it already for how many times, short hair isn´t for me. But now, I just have a really short hair style. I wish it´d grow long quick.

Currently Adoring: Jean-Michel Cazabat Suede Elisa Pumps

Jean-Michel Cazabat Suede Elisa Pumps
Jean-Michel Cazabat Suede Elisa Pumps
If being a big spender and spending more than the alloted budget for a month isn´t a sin, I would have had a house full of shoes right now.

Whenever I see a pair of gorgeous shoes such as this Jean-Michel Cazabat Suede Elisa Pumps, I´m really tempted to pull the plastic but I remind myself that I´d rather pay in cash.

Meaning, while I can quickly have this Suede Elisa Pumps with sexy ankle strap that is so me by using my credit card, I refuse because I have other priority right now such as our incoming trip to Paris next month.

After Paris though, I´m sure I can save enough to hopefully grab a pair of this beauties in my size. Hopefully, by then my size is still in stock.

I had a very similar pair of shoes a couple of years back with the same style but instead of a closed pointed toe, those were peep-toe.

I´d love wearing this with a fitted black skirt with slits on the side, with shorts or capris. And this would also look very glamour with a mini dress.

How about you, what do you think of this shoe? How would you wear it?

It´s Time to Switch to Neutral Colored Pedicure

After months of playing with the season´s trend colors, I felt like missing my neutral nail polish colors. So last night, I decided to color my toe nails with dark maroon. There´s something classy when the toe nails are sparkly dark, I don´t know if it´s just me, but I figure that despite the bright color trends, I still love wearing dark colors for pedicure. When it comes to my manicure however, I still stick with what´s trending. Thus more bright manicures coming. Have a great day!

Wear the Trend: Effortless Floral Shoulder Bag

Kate Spade Melinda Shoulder Bag

I always thought I´m not a trend freak but lately I´m starting to question it. Like my obsession with the floral trend. I love cute and bright florals from dresses to tops, jeans and shoes.

See: My Outfit Floral Pants Worn to A Flower Feast

But sometimes wearing florals from head to toe is overwhelming. If you´re a kind who simply wants to subtly inject this trend to a look instead of a screaming floral outfit, opt for a floral accessory, like this Kate Spade New York High Falls Melinda Shoulder Bag in floral.

I love this bag because its floral print isn´t over the top. It only has at most three colors in not shocking florals which makes it versatile to mix with other colors.

You can wear it as a complement to all white summer outfit, as a color pop to a neutral look, or to blend with other bright colors. But this bag is running of out stock soon, so if you like it, make sure to check it out quick.

A Quick Look on Some of My Summer Shoes

The other night I was playing dress up when I noticed how my scattered shoes looked on the floor. I quickly grabbed my DSLR and took a shot. You´ll see here most of my summer shoes, ballet flats, sandals, some wedges and pumps, and well, some boots at the back which I´m planning to create summer looks with.

My husband noticed that I was able to come up with several summer outfits so he advised me to write down down. I followed his suggestion and realized how quickly I´ve forgotten the blends I´ve created. So writing down every look is actually a good idea.

My shoe collection is still humble. I´m basically starting to build it up again after leaving behind many of shoes in Bangkok. You know, I was working and living in Bangkok for so long my wardrobe has expanded there but I couldn´t move everything to Europe.

I´ve actually started this blog when I was still working as a teacher there and I´m happy that it´s still with me now that I now navigate a new life in a new country.

For this summer I´m loving colored and printed ballet flats and sexy wedge shoes. How about you? What type of summer shoes are you into?

Top Tribal Prints For Summer 2012

If you’ve bought any of this year’s ethnic inspired prints then you’re already rocking one of this year’s hottest trends - the tribal look. Our guide to the top tribal prints for summer 2012 will give you an insight into this year’s hottest patterns and tell you how to wear them with style.

Ikat

Ikat is a dying technique that’s commonly used in South East Asia and South America. Ikat incorporates triangular shapes and bold geometric patterns, creating a bright and bold overall effect. Team Ikat prints with big, block colour accessories, or if you’re feeling brave, clash them with a different pattern.

Aztec

Aztec prints originated in Mexico and are usually monochromatic and geometric. Mathew Williamson introduced this print to the catwalks a couple of years ago and it’s now a perennial festival favourite. Aztec works with leather and suede, or teamed with tropical bright leggings or skinny jeans. Monochromatic Aztec prints are the perfect accompaniment to this year’s neon trend too.

Paisley

Paisley is one of those miracle prints which keep coming back into fashion year after year. This summer the high streets are dripping with the Persian pattern. Paisley is great if you want to combine a tribal and boho look and is perfect for maxi dresses. Smaller patterns work well if you’re on the slimmer side but if you’re larger then choose big, bold designs instead. Wear with plenty of leather accessories and gladiator sandals to complete the outfit.

Tie-Dye

This ancient dying technique has been around for centuries, but only became popular in the UK during the 60s and 70s. Since then tie-dye has come a long way and it’s now a common feature on catwalks around the world. There are tonnes of sophisticated tie-dye patterns out there which are perfect for giving a new twist to the classic sundress. Choose block colour accessories and wedges to stop the pattern from becoming overwhelming.

Aloha

Tropical prints are big news for Summer 2012 and many of this year’s designs are based on the original Aloha print which was first created in 1930s Hawaii. You’ll find tropical patterns on everything from playsuits to shorts and shoes this year. Aloha prints look great clashed with stripes and polka dots if you’re brave, or give a simple hint to the style with some tropical print wedges and cute vest tops.

My Casual Weekend Outfit with Sheer Polka Dot Top

While cleaning the house today morning I felt like I´m in the mood for an outfit post. I asked hubby, who was helping me change beddings, if we could take some outdoor shots. He said "yes" so I quickly finished cleaning and prepared myself.

The weather in our side is not so good right now. it always rains in the morning and the evening. Shortly after we took photos, it rained.

In this outfit I wore a sheer polka dot top with plaid shorts and stripe ballet flats. I added a tangerine handbag, which actually looks like red, to the look. For more photos, check out my post at the blogazine, My Outfit: Weekend Casual Polka Dot Top, Plaid Shorts and Striped Ballerinas.

Colorful Summer Hairstyle

My former student in Bangkok shared this hairstyle photo in facebook. I initially thought it´s her hair because she has a similar hair texture although hers was longer. I asked her and found out it´s not her hair but it´s something she´d like to try this summer.

I love this colorful hairstyle. It´s a very Indian way of beauty but I think that anybody can try it. It´s all about highlighting your hair with different colors and then braid it. Thus guarantees lots of head turns.

What do you think of this hair? Would you feel confortable wearing a colorful hairstyle this season?

Bag to Splurge: Kate Spade New York Gold Coast, Leighton Shoulder Bag

Pink is a girl´s color. It is polished in itself, it energizes your look and it offers peace. This is the color that´s actually best to wear if you´re having a temper or if you feel sad.

Also, every girl needs a great bag. And i think that this Kate Spade New York shoulder bag in pink is in every inch a great bag.

If I get enough money to secure me a copy of this pink pretty, I´d wear it with an empire waist little black dress. Alternatively, I can wear it with a white summer outfit too. This way, the pinkness stands out and it´s this great bag which will do all the talking.

If I´m into colorblocking this look, it would look great with a a pair of nude skinny pants and a purple top.

This Kate Spade New York Gold Coast-Leighton Shoulder Bag is a dream. At its current price, $468, it´s still out of my price range right now. But I promise to save up.

What about you? Would you wear a pink shoulder bag as girly and as gorgeous as this?

How to Use Colored Slim Belts to Accent A Look

In my article how to amp up a monochromatic look with contrast belt, you´ll see celebrities such as Nicole Ritchie, Leighton Meester, Selena and Rihanna adding a slim belt in black, brown or leopard to contrast to the color of their dress.

Personally, I´ve develop a big love for contrast belts especially colored slim belts because not only does it bring interest to the look, it also creates you and emphasizes your waist line.

I found colored slim belts more versatile than those neutrals because they´d look great both with neutral colored and bright/printed outfits. You have more freedom to play with colors.

mint green slim belt
The moment I found this Luxury Lane Women's Skinny Chainlink Buckle Leather in Mint Green, it´s like finding the exact beauty that I´ve been searching for. Mint green is one of the summer trend colors that I most adore alongside tangerine and to have it in belt is just amazing.

It´s real leather and now sells at a discount. It´s orginal price was $55.00 yet it´s not available at $29.99, saving you 40%. Unfortunately, there are only three left in stock and all in size S. My size is XS. The belt also comes in two other colors, brown and peach. If you´re size S and you love the belt, go ahead and check it out.

Sexy Summer Sandals and Hot Pink Pedicure

Sexy flat sandals and girly pedicures are the thing of summer! Really, they´re the stuff we miss in weathers when all we do is layering and bundling up.

summer flat sandals with pink pedicure

In my last post I told you about the trunk show I attended? I actually wanted to take photo of the brand´s pr person, Daniela, but she played shy and allowed only her bracelets to be photographed because she said, "you should take photos of the young girls".

But as she spoke with her assistant, I noticed how cute her summer sandals were and her pedicure. I snapped some shots and she quickly turned back curious or bothered. But come to think of it, rose pink, hot pink, and anything pink for your toe nails are unarguably sexy for summer!

Daniela´s feet just inspired me to color mine pink. What about you?

I Went to Stella & Dot Trunk Show

Have you been to a trunk show organized by a friend? My friend Deniz hosted today a Stella & Dot Trunk show at her apartment. You must be familiar with the brand?

I brought both my Nikon DSLR and pocket cameras to make sure I get enough of good photos. You´ll see more photos of my outfit and the show at the blogazine, What I Wore to Stella & Dot Trunk Show.

The host, her sister, and her best friend were very nice and accomodating. I also had a good talk with the brand´s pr person, Daniela, who briefed me about the brand and the possible gigs it has to offer.

She invited me to a big show in Frankfurt which will be next month to which I said "yes" and was so excited to attend with Deniz. But when I got home and spoke to my husband about the fashion show I´m attending, I was disappointed to find out that the date clashes with our trip to Paris. Sigh!

In spite of standing on my heels for over two hours because of not enough seats for everyone and of killing most of the time taking photos and scanning the magazines, I enjoyed seeing the jewelry collection. I most importantly enjoyed taking photos of the girls wearing the coveted necklaces and bracelets.

Oh! And I tried a gold snake cuff too, a´la Angelina Jolie. Really, you´ve got to head to the blogazine and see how I looked with it. :)
